Modernizing the Infrastructure
of the University of Utah
The University of Utah is modernizing its business and operational infrastructure to better support student success, research, patient care, and service to our community as we pursue our Impact 2030 goals. This university-wide effort brings together Coordinated Services, Mission Aligned Planning, Operational Excellence, new financial planning tools, and related initiatives. Read the September update.
Past
Coordinated Services began in Advancement, which is now fully implemented, and Finance and Human Resources are in progress. These efforts have shown us how to improve support for colleges, faculty, staff, students, and patients.
Present
The next phase of Coordinated Services is beginning in Marketing & Communications, Information Technology, Data and Analytics, and General Administration. Each area will be evaluated on its own, because one model will not fit every function.
Future
Some changes will begin in 2026, with a goal of completing much of this work by the end of the fiscal year in June 2027. By making thoughtful changes now, while the university is strong, this work positions the U for the future.
